What we collect, and why

Last updated 1 October 2026. This covers the Today’s 1% iOS app and todays1percent.com, run by The Trustee for Impixelated Business Trust, trading as Today’s 1%. “We” and “us” in this policy mean that business.

The short version

We collect only what running the app requires: your email address to sign you in, and whatever you choose to save (your completions, an optional note, an optional photo). We don’t use analytics or advertising tools, and we don’t sell data. Notes are shared anonymously as encouragement unless you switch that off, and nothing else is shown to other people unless you choose to share it.

Account information

When you sign in, we store your email address, so we can send you a sign-in link. If you add a first name, surname, username or location in Settings, we store that too. None of this is shown to other users unless you submit a suggested 1% and choose to be credited for it (see “Suggestions” below).

We also store your timezone and the time of day you’ve set for your daily prompt, so the app can unlock it at the right moment for you, and a couple of simple preferences (theme, whether you see the “people completed their 1% today” count, whether reminders are on).

If you turn on the daily reminder, your phone schedules it as a notification at your prompt time. It’s set up on your device, not sent by us, and never by email. You can turn it off in Settings any time.

What you complete

Each day you complete, we store which prompt it was and when. If you write a note, “Share this as encouragement” is on unless you switch it off, so another person completing the same prompt on a later day may see your note, always anonymously and never with your name attached. Switch it off before saving and the note stays private: only you can read it.

If you take a photo when completing a 1%, it’s stored in a private area you alone can access. We never show your photo to other users. It’s only used for the sharing features you yourself trigger: saving it to your camera roll, or using the app’s own share sheet, and only when you choose to.

The community count

The “X people completed their 1% today” figure is a simple daily count of everyone who completed something, including you. It’s never broken down by name or by which prompt. Our website shows the same count, and only ever receives the number itself.

Suggestions

If you suggest your own 1% from within the app, we store the text you wrote and, if you choose to be credited, whichever of your first name, surname, username or city you selected. If we use your suggestion, that credited information (only the parts you chose) becomes visible to everyone using the app.

Camera and photo library access

The app asks for camera access only to let you take a photo when you complete a 1%. It asks for photo library access only to add a photo or share card when you choose to save one. It never reads or browses your existing photos.

Face ID and Touch ID

You can choose to lock the app with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode. This is handled entirely by your iPhone: the app is only told whether unlocking succeeded. Your face or fingerprint data never leaves your device and we never receive it. Whether the lock is on is saved on that phone only, not in your account.

Our website

The website doesn’t use cookies. It remembers whether you picked Dusk or Daylight in your browser’s own storage, on your device, and never sends that to us. The share button uses your device’s share sheet or clipboard and doesn’t send us anything either.

If you write to us through the contact form, we keep your name (if you give one), your email address, the topic you chose, your message and when it arrived, so we can reply. It’s forwarded to us by email and used for nothing else. While you’re writing, an unsent draft is kept in your browser’s storage on your own device, until you send it or close the tab. When you send, our server sees your IP address to stop spam, and doesn’t store it.

Who else sees your data

We use three outside services to run the app and website, and don’t share your data with anyone beyond them:

  • Supabase, our database, authentication and file storage. Your data is hosted in Tokyo, Japan.
  • Resend, which delivers the sign-in emails we send you and forwards contact form messages to us. It only ever receives the email address and the email content, nothing else.
  • Vercel, which hosts our website. Like any web host, it handles the standard technical details your browser sends when you visit a page, such as your IP address, in order to deliver it.

We don’t use any analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and we’ve never sold or rented anyone’s data.

Security

Everything the app sends is encrypted in transit. Our database rules mean your completions, private notes and photos can only ever be read by your own account, not by other users or, in the ordinary course of running the app, by us. A note you leave shared as encouragement is the one exception, and it’s only ever shown as its text, with nothing attached to identify you.

Your choices

You can edit or remove most of your profile information any time in Settings.

Settings also has a “Delete account” option, at the bottom of the screen. It permanently deletes your account and everything attached to it: your profile, your completions, notes, photos and suggestions. It asks you to confirm first, since there’s no way to undo it once it’s done.

To delete your account, or to ask what we hold about you, use the contact form and choose My account or data. Send it from the email address you use for the app, so we can find your account.

If this changes in a way that matters, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. We won’t start using your data differently without saying so here first.
